Eduardo Farias
Eduardo – Head Coach – National B License
Eduardo founded FSA while playing at St. Mary’s University where he discovered his passion and talent for training players in his free time. Eduardo brings an enthusiasm and love for the game that could be rivaled by few in the province. He brings experience at all levels of the game, coaching in both the club and university systems.
As a youth player, Eduardo captained the Nova Scotia Canada Games team to a bronze medal in the summer of 2001. That fall he followed up with a senior men’s national championship, the first ever for any Nova Scotian team, playing for Halifax King of Donair. While earning his Psychology degree at St. Mary’s University Eduardo was an impact player for the men’s side helping the squad earn a CIS national silver medal in 2006 and earning both AUS and CIS honors throughout his career.
Using his academic experience in psychology, Eduardo has created programs that allow players to thrive in an environment where they learn best and that focuses on individual development. On and off of the pitch, Eduardo excels at connecting with players in order to help each individual not only see but reach their full potential.
Wendy Donaldson
Wendy – Head Coach – National B License
In 2010, Eduardo realized FSA had the potential to grow and partnered with Wendy, an equally as passionate CIS standout, and Nationally licensed coach.
Wendy attended the University of Ottawa where she captained women’s team for four of the five years she played. She was also named the captain of the Canadian Team who competed in the World University Games held in Thailand in 2007. Through her university career Wendy was recognized as both an OUA and National all-star for her impact on the pitch.
Wendy brings a diverse background in coaching both tier 1 club and academy soccer in Halifax and Ottawa. On the pitch, Wendy brings passion and intensity. While keeping a high standard, she makes sure all players are developing and learning how to be a good teammate and most importantly, a good person.
Jose Farias
José brings over a decade of experience as a FIFA referee officiating matches around the world. His soccer insight, tactical knowledge, professionalism, and love of the game have set a foundation for the Academy. He began his career as a referee at the age of 16, and in 1996 became the only person in Nova Scotia to ever be selected to the Men’s FIFA list of referees. He remained a FIFA referee from 1996-2005 when he retired. José participated in numerous CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, was selected to the CONCACAF Champions Cup Final Tournament in Las Vegas USA and was there awarded the Final Match in October 1999. He was also the only Canadian to officiate in the Pan American Games.
José Farias will always be the heart and soul of the Farias Soccer Academy. His soccer insight, tactical knowledge, personal discipline, professionalism, dedication, and love of the game have become the model for the inspired and skillful coaching of his son Eduardo, the Academy’s founder and principal coach.
Tyler Simmons
Tyler has earned a reputation as a standout leader, playing and coaching at the university level. Tyler takes this experience and his fun loving personality to inspire players on and off of the pitch. While attending MSVU, Tyler captained the team to an Atlantic Championship and also earned league honors receiving the Bob Coe Award, given to a male soccer player in the ACAA that best combines qualities of leadership and excellence on and off of the field.As a youth player, Eduardo captained the Nova Scotia Canada Games team to a bronze medal in the summer of 2001.
